Simon the Scribe

Back a long, long, long time ago there was a scribe named Simon.  He was very young when his dad would take him to places where there were historical events happening.  He would write down everything that he saw.  As he grew older he had a room filled with all of the scribes that he had written down.  He would try to write down every little thing that happened.  His parents got very mad at him because he would write down every little thing that they would say and they would have to keep spending money on ink and paper.
Finally they told him that if he wanted to keep writing he would have to get a job.  He went to try out for a writing job, of course.  They told him that if he wanted to get this job then he had to be able to spell very well, know proper grammar and to keep up with the latest historical events.  The job that he had to do, to prove that he was worthy enough to keep the job and to maybe get a raise, was to get the story of John the Baptist down by the Jordan River.
He went and met up with Joseph to go down to the Jordan River to see John the Baptist baptize people in the river.  While he was on his way to meet up with Joseph he stopped by his parents house to tell them what he was going to do.  They said that they were very proud of him and that they would see him when he got back.  He met up with Joseph and they headed out on their way.
They got out to where John the Baptist was and his hand was so sore when he got down there from writing the whole way there he was unable to write any more when he got there.  He took a little break from writing and once his hand was better he was able to write down all of the things that he had seen there.  This is how we are able to read about the historic happenings with John the Baptist down by the Jordan River.
